Overview

The AICTE Pragati Scholarship helps girl students afford technical education. It is run by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a central government body, to encourage more girls to study diploma and degree courses in engineering and technology.

If you are selected, you get ₹50,000 per year. This is a lump-sum amount you can use for your college fees, a computer, books, stationery, software and similar study costs. The money is paid straight to your bank account (DBT) once a year.

To apply, you must be a girl student admitted to the first year of a degree course, or the second year through lateral entry, in an AICTE-approved institution. Your family income must not be more than ₹8 lakh per year, and a maximum of two girls per family can apply. There are 5,000 scholarships each year (plus extra seats for the North-East and some Union Territories).

Selection is purely on merit — your marks in the qualifying exam. You apply online on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), and your college and state office verify your application. The scholarship can be renewed each year if you pass. For the 2026-27 year, the last date to apply is 31 October 2026 — always confirm on the official notification before you apply.
