Overview
The ICAR National Talent Scholarship (NTS-PG) is given by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education. It rewards postgraduate students who move out of their home state to study agriculture.
You are eligible if you are doing a Master's degree in an Agricultural University that is outside your state of domicile, and you got your seat through the All India Entrance Examination (AIEE) under ICAR's All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Students admitted through a State Agricultural University's own entrance test are not eligible.
The scholarship pays Rs 5,000 per month. It runs for the full length of your Master's programme, as long as you keep up your marks. To continue getting the money you must show good conduct and punctuality, and keep an OGPA/CGPA of at least 7.00 out of 10.00 (6.50 out of 10.00 if you are SC or ST). The money is paid to your college or university, which then transfers it to your bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
As per ICAR's FAQ, you do not have to apply separately — candidates admitted through AIEE under AIQ seats are automatically eligible. Your details are processed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), where the award letter issued by ICAR may be asked for. For this cycle, student applications on NSP are open till 31 October 2026.

How you're selected
No separate selection test. Students admitted to a Master's programme in an Agricultural University through the ICAR All India Entrance Examination (AIEE) under All India Quota (AIQ) seats, in a state other than their domicile state, are automatically eligible. Continuation each year depends on good conduct, punctuality and an OGPA/CGPA of at least 7.00 out of 10.00 (6.50 out of 10.00 for SC/ST).

Do I have to apply separately? As per ICAR's official FAQ, no — candidates admitted through AIEE under ICAR AIQ seats are automatically eligible. Your scholarship is still processed on the National Scholarship Portal, so keep your details and documents ready there.
Can I renew it? Yes. It continues for the whole Master's programme if you show good conduct and punctuality and keep an OGPA/CGPA of at least 7.00 out of 10.00 (6.50 out of 10.00 for SC/ST). If you fail a paper, skip a regular exam, change your subject or university, or take up a job, the scholarship can be stopped.
