Overview
The K. C. Mahindra Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies is offered by the K. C. Mahindra Education Trust, a private trust. It has supported over 1,830 Indian students. It is an interest-free loan scholarship — you pay the money back, but you are never charged any interest.
Each year the Trust gives this award to a minimum of 50 students. The top 3 winners are named K. C. Mahindra Fellows and can get up to Rs 10 lakh each. Other selected students can get up to Rs 5 lakh each.
Who is it for? You must be an Indian citizen with a first-class degree (or an equivalent diploma) from a recognised university. You must have joined, or be joining, a postgraduate course. Until now the award was only for study abroad; from this cycle it has also been extended to select premier institutions inside India. Students in the final year of their degree can also apply, if they submit their final mark sheet or a provisional certificate showing first class by the end of June.
How do you apply? Everything is online on the Trust's own scholarship portal — there is no paper form and no application fee. You upload your documents, including a Statement of Purpose of 500-600 words and at least one letter of recommendation. Shortlisted students are emailed in June and interviews are held in July.

How you're selected
Apply online on the Trust's scholarship portal with all documents. Shortlisted candidates are informed by email in June. Interviews are held in July. Candidates travelling from outside Mumbai are reimbursed for travel only; candidates from Mumbai get Rs 1,500. There is no paper form and no application fee. A guarantor is mandatory (no collateral is asked for).

Is this a grant or a loan? It is an interest-free loan scholarship. You repay the amount, but no interest is charged. No collateral is asked for, but a guarantor is compulsory — usually a parent or guardian, and the guarantor is equally responsible for the amount.
What is the last date? The official page says applications for the academic year 2026 are closed, and that the last date was 30 April 2026, 6 pm. Dates for the next cycle are not announced yet — check the official notification on kcmet.org.
Can I apply if my admission is not confirmed? Yes. You may apply before your admission is confirmed, but you must inform the Trust once your admission is secured, and update your final choice of university.
