Overview
The UGC National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies helps students pay for a master's degree. It is run by the University Grants Commission (UGC), a central government body.
If you are selected you get ₹1,50,000 per year for 2 years — one of the larger PG scholarships available in India. 10,000 scholarships are awarded every year.
To apply, you must be admitted to the first year of a PG degree in regular, full-time mode at an eligible university, college or institution. The age limit is 30 years. Your course must be a recognised PG degree as listed in the UGC's Specification of Degrees notification. If you are in an integrated programme, the money is paid for the PG part only.
You apply through the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). The UGC page does not print a fixed last date — check the portal for the current year's window before applying.
