Overview
This is a central sector scholarship from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, run through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It helps meritorious students from OBC, EBC (Economically Backward Class) and DNT (De-notified Tribe) families get a top-quality school education. The scheme funds studies from Class 9 all the way to Class 12.
Only students already studying in schools chosen as "Top Class Schools" (schools with a strong record of 100% passes in Class 10 and 12) can apply. Your family's total yearly income must be less than Rs. 2.5 lakh. Selection is purely on merit: a state-wise merit list is made for each class, separately for boys and girls, based on your marks in the previous class's final exam. At least 30% of the scholarships are kept for girls.
What you get: the scheme pays tuition fee, hostel fee and other school charges. This is up to Rs. 75,000 per year for a student in Class 9 or 10, and up to Rs. 1,25,000 per year for a student in Class 11 or 12. The money is paid straight into the student's bank account through DBT, usually in one instalment before 15 August each year.
To apply, you must have a bank account and apply online on the National Scholarship Portal. Your school's Nodal Officer verifies your application online, and the State Government confirms it. Always check the official NSP page for the current application dates.

Is this the same as any other scholarship? If your school is helped under this scheme, you cannot get another government scholarship for the same items already covered here.
