Overview
This is a Government of India scholarship for students with disabilities who are studying after Class 10. It is run by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) and applied for through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Who it is for: Indian students with a benchmark disability (40% or more) who have a valid disability certificate and UDID. It covers Class 11, Class 12, post-matric diploma/certificate courses, Bachelor's degrees, and Master's degrees (up to Master's level) in recognised institutions. Your family income must not be more than ₹2.5 lakh per year.
What you get (per the official guidelines):
- Tuition and admission fee reimbursement up to ₹1.40 lakh per year (actual amount)
- Other compulsory fees up to ₹10,000 per year
- Maintenance allowance of ₹1,200 per month for hostellers and ₹650 per month for day-scholars
- Disability allowance of ₹4,000 per year (visual/intellectual disability) or ₹2,000 per year (other disabilities)
- Book allowance of ₹1,500 per year
How to apply: Fill the online form on scholarships.gov.in with your disability certificate, UDID, Aadhaar, income certificate, fee receipts and mark sheets. Your institute verifies it, then the State nodal officer processes it. Money is paid directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account. Selection is based on your disability percentage, with 50% of seats reserved for female candidates. Not more than two children of the same parents can benefit.

How you're selected
Merit based on percentage of disability shown on the disability certificate (Specific Learning Disability counted as 40%); ties broken in favour of the older candidate. Slots distributed state-wise; 50% reserved for female candidates. Applications verified by the institute and State nodal officer via NSP.

How do I apply? Apply online at scholarships.gov.in (National Scholarship Portal). Upload your disability certificate, UDID, Aadhaar, income certificate, fee receipts and last qualification certificate. Your institute and State nodal officer then verify the application.
Can I renew it every year? Yes. The scholarship is renewed from year to year as long as you get promoted to the next class. If you fail once, it may still be renewed; for a second or later failure you must bear your own costs until you pass.
How are students selected? Selection is by merit based on the percentage of disability on your certificate. If two students tie, the older student gets preference. Seats are shared state-wise, and 50% are reserved for female candidates.
