Monthly scholarship payment of 2,000 euros for assistant teachers, assistant professors and lecturers, or 2,150 euros for professors. Travel costs to and from Germany are normally paid by the sending country unless a bilateral agreement says otherwise. Health insurance cover is compulsory in Germany; if you do not have your own home health insurance, DAAD insures you and deducts the cost from the scholarship. If you have a disability or chronic illness, you may apply for a subsidy towards justified extra costs, decided case by case.

DAAD University Summer Courses (HSK) Scholarship

The scholarship pays the full fee for a four-week German language course in Germany. The course provider also gives you a single room to stay in for the whole course. You get a one-time allowance of 475 EUR, plus health, accident and personal liability insurance arranged by DAAD. Students travelling from India also get a travel allowance of 1,188 EUR for the outward and return journey (rate valid from 1 January 2026, subject to possible changes).
